Parenting in the Digital Age
a recorded workshop for parents at Francis Holland
Technology is central to all our lives and our children use devices for education, socialising, entertainment and relaxation. Parents play a key role in helping their children develop healthy digital habits so they can make the most of the many opportunities in the digital world, and still enjoy offline activities!
This recorded workshop was led by one of our experienced parent educators on Monday 3rd March 2025. It includes plenty of practical solutions and strategies about typical digital dilemmas. You will also receive a detailed e-handout along with the recording and the opportunity to arrange a free 30-minute call with a member of The Parent Team to discuss your particular concerns.
Privacy settings play an important part in keeping children safe, but parents also need to teach their children how to keep themselves safe, and how to be responsible digital citizens in the online world.
In this workshop, we discuss how to have open and effective conversations about technology as a family. When children feel comfortable to talking with their parents about their online activities, they are more likely to ask for help if they are worried or get into any trouble.
We also explore how to create and uphold limits and boundaries for digital use at home. When parents restrict and control access, it invariably leads to arguments and rebellion, and it doesn't help children learn to regulate their own use.
And we discover why it's so hard for children to log off (and adults too!) and how we can respond effectively in these transition moments.
Meet The Parent Team
Jenny, Juliet, Ann and Victoria have been teaching positive parenting skills to hundreds of families in schools, nurseries, companies and organisations for 14 years. We also run private consultations with parents.
And each of us is a parent – the perfect opportunity to walk the talk!
Between us, we have 9 children ranging from 14 to 24 years old, so we have first-hand experience of many typical, and some less typical, childhood challenges including countless school exams, neurodiversity, anxiety and school refusal, sibling rivalry, homework battles, friendship issues, digital dramas and much more!
